Our God is Involved!

We finally began our series on Micah…God is opening a lot in me from looking at this book. Here’s what I shared yesterday.

  1. “They still think they are the chosen people, unable to be destroyed.” This is what scared me most after 9/11 – not that a terrorist finally attacked our country, but to find out that so many Americans thought it couldn’t happen here.

Let me be very clear I am NOT equating a terrorist to God melting mountains.

But I think the fear that God is unhappy with us is very real and feeds into our raising up other people to be our enemies.

  2. Ooh, that’s good….”the fear that God is unhappy with us is very real and feeds into our raising up other people to be our enemies.” I still don’t think we can give up on a God who might be unhappy with us. But God’s displeasure/judgment/correction/whatever you want to call it is not designed to lead to fear, but to humble repentence. Coming to grips with our own failings and wrongdoing helps us see our kinship with those who might be “enemies”, while fear, as you said, builds the walls.
