Back home

We got home safely, have hugged the kids, got them in bed, more or less prepared for tomorrow, and now it’s time for bed. I have a full day tomorrow, so not sure if I’ll have time to blog. But the evening session was personally very, very meaningful last night. Not sure if I’ll blog about that, but wanted to say God did some very good work in me.

This morning was a seminar with Doug Pagitt that was very helpful. I’ll steal liberally from some of what he did. 😉

Last night, Nichole Nordeman did a concert. I really liked her thoughtful music, and I got autographs afterward for Talli and Hayley…scored some dad points there.

  1. God did great work but I’m not going to tell you about it. If you were my kid, I’d say that sounds like teasing.

Seriously, glad you’re home safely, hope to hear more soon, and hope the pool lounging was as successful as the conferencing.

  2. Leave it to a mother to call me on stuff! 🙂

I just recognize that while I intend to be authentic and honest and open, there are some things that I should keep to myself. Next time, I’ll just keep it to myself without dangling it out there at all.

I didn’t lounge by the pool much…but I did hit the hot tub almost every night, and we got to the beach, and had lots of wonderful conversations. How cool is that? What a gift.

  3. There has to be a way to share pieces of what’s going on without feeling like you have to give all the gory (or boring) details. Like with kids, I think it’s pointing out what other people don’t get that sounds like teasing – not the unavoidable and proper fact that there are things that are not for everybody. Today’s post (2/15) is good at walking that line. I feel included when I read it, not excluded from what’s not there. And maybe I’m splitting hairs. Really, I want to encourage you to share more, not less.
